Tips for drinking + maintaining your health goals this summer
The warm summer days are right around the corner and let’s be honest, it's a time when many of us let loose and enjoy ourselves a little bit more than usual...
AKA there are more opportunities to socialize and drink alcohol with family & friends!
Many people don't realize just how many calories are in their favorite drinks, or they underestimate how much drinking can stall their progress!
However, summer doesn't have to be a setback for your progress. Let’s talk about how you can keep tabs on your drinking – so you can enjoy yourself without overdoing it.
Here are simple ways to track your alcohol intake:
Never substitute alcohol for protein! You want to always hit your protein intake daily since amino acids cannot be stored.
If you are using a “mix” in your drink that has carbs or fat in it, track that first. Then with the calories left over from the alcohol, do the math:
Track as carb: Take the total amount of calories in your alcoholic beverage and divide by 4.
Track as fat: Take the total amount of calories in your alcoholic beverage and divide by 9.
Or split between the two!

It's also a good idea to make sure that you're balancing your drinks with plenty of water and healthy food choices. This will help to offset the effects of the alcohol and keep your body hydrated and nourished!
